Alife Pays Homage to Black Historic Icons
After all the unsettling racial issues and riots of 2020, Black History month just feels so much more important this year. Several lifestyle brands are stepping up to the plate to show their commitment to the cause, and NYC’s Alife is definitely leading the way.
For the second year in a row, Alife is answering the call with a capsule of notable releases celebrating iconic giants in the realm of African American civil rights and culture.
The names, prominently displayed on the new 6-piece hoodie capsule include: Eldridge Cleaver, W.E.B. Du Bois, Medgar Evers, Fred Hampton, Assata Shakur, and Nina Simone. The design is further enhanced by the emphatic block font used to spell out the names of these icons. 5% of proceeds from all Alife sales in the month of February will go towards the United Negro College Fund and Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
Alife didn’t skimp on the fabric quality used for the hoodies to celebrate these African American luminaries. The garments are cut from heavyweight, pre-shrunk 14 oz. cotton and feature ultra-sturdy ribbed cuffs and waistbands. You can shop all 6 hoodies in the capsule below.
And lastly, for those of you who missed it, Alife also released an expansive hoodie collection this February too paying homage to prominent HBCU colleges. Some of the higher learning institutions included were: Morehouse University, Howard University, Hampton University, and Florida A & M. You can see the impressive campaign for that below:
We can all play our part to make sure the fight for racial equality is an everyday commitment, and not just something we bring to the forefront for one month of the year.
